Richard King
1932-2007
A letter from his family:
My father Richard King passed away yesterday, 24 June, succumbing to a long term illness. I would like to thank all of you who have supported him over the
years and also those of you who were fortunate enough to share in his experiences at ORA. He was very passionate about antique aviation, and I know the
Aerodrome held a special place in his heart. Raise your glass to another aviator "gone west"!
Sincere thanks,
Geoff King

Update
Our miscellaneous section has been updated with several rare images of the interior of Cole's Carriage House as it appeared in 1989.
An article from a 1970 issue of "TWA Ambassador" has also been added to our articles section thanks to Jack Perkis, Jim Hare, and Tom Polapink.
For those who have inquired about guestbook entries being automatically cut-off after submission, our F.A.Q. page is now online to address the issue and
provide some ways around it.

Update
Five new photos of Cole Palen with Owen Billman and the original SPAD XIII have been added to page 9 of the photos section. These photos, taken in 1957,
were generously donated to CP.com by Scott Brewster through Tom Polapink.
New Aircraft Albums Section Added to Cole Palen.com!
You can get there by clicking the "Aircraft Albums" box located on the left hand side of your screen. Since we are receiving a growing number of beautiful
photos of Cole's aircraft, and since we want to keep our main photos section dedicated strictly to photos of Cole and Rita, we have decided to create a place
within Cole Palen.com which will focus exclusively on ORA aircraft. The three albums currently online feature the SPAD XIII, Bleriot XI and Fokker Dr.1. Be
sure to look for many updates and additions to this new section in the future. Enjoy!
Please Note: Many aircraft photos once appearing in our miscellaneous section have been moved to these new albums.

Memories/Reflections Update!
A great new article from Don Bodeen entitled "Meeting One's Hero" is now available in our memories/reflections area. In his new article, Mr. Bodeen recalls
how he and Cole transported the original SPAD XIII to Armonk Airport so it could be used in the background as Eddie Rickenbacker filmed a segment for the
first of a three-part television series entitled "Air Power."
Please Note: Don Bodeen's photos of this event were originally posted in our miscellaneous section, but have been moved to this new page.
Update
Chris Ford has created a beautiful repaint of Steven D. Myers' FS2002-2004 Davis D1W in ORA colors. This new repaint is available on page 3 of the
downloads/repaints section. Thanks Chris!

Easter Sunday
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away
from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that
gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for
the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered
into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' "
Luke 24:1-7

Mr. Bodeen's account of a practical joke gone wrong. Thanks again Don!
Thanks to Tom Polapink, we now know the whereabouts of the original Standard J-1 that Cole acquired from Roosevelt Field in 1951. Photos, as well as a brief
history are now available on page 2 of the "Roosevelt Field Six" section.
